So, I’ve been MIA for quite a while. I don’t think I have any readers so I doubt anyone noticed and it seems the world continued on without my idle blog chatter. Shocker. Really.
Well, I see that my last post was about Abel eating his first few bites of cereal. He has really gotten the hang of eating now. We’re up to about 4 jars a day!
With my last 2 children I made their food myself. I started Abel with the jars though. This morning I was feeling all Urban Homemakerish (I don’t even know if she makes baby food but that’s who I think of when I’m doing something healthy, food-wise) and cut up and smashed an Avacodo. No one in our house eats Avacodo’s. Aaron did when he was a baby but he must have forgotten because he took a bite this morning and said “That’s eeewww, Mommy.” I’ll spare you the visual of what my 10 year described it as but I will tell you that my husband agreed with him. I reminded them that it’s a very healthly first baby food that most babies enjoy.
Well, guess who didn’t. Abel took his first bite, promptly pushed it out and made a cute (although objectionable) face. We did this a few more times. I thought I would mix it with some pears. That should do the trick, right? Wrong. After all was said and done – he wouldn’t even eat the pears alone. I think I may have ruined his appetite for the morning. *SIGH* I’m sure my kids and my husband feel a slight sense of victory over me today. They were right and I was wrong. I just hope that I haven’t gotten him used to the jar food and now he won’t like anything fresh. Surely not.
If you are interested in making your own baby food – I know I just gave a great promotion for it! – there are several good books on it. It’s very easy and usually cheaper. My favorite is Super Baby Foods. If you want to feed your baby meats you’ll need another book because SBF doesn’t agree with feeding them meats. The idea of pureed meats gives me the heebie-jeebies anyway, so I just want until they can eat it shredded.
Well, I know my little man is hungry so I’m off to try again!

I thought I’d come to your blog through mine just to make you wonder why you’ve gotten so many hits today.
great blog, by the way, WordPress stinks …. it won’t let me leave you a comment one right after the other. It gave me a message to slow down. Boring to do list, boring blog host people.
Make your own baby food???? I fed my 5 month old steak today. Puree is for wieners …. oh yea, you are a wiener!
My blog is cooler than yours
I wish my friend was as great as yours and would leave me comments on my blog.
Go practice your cartwheels.
A reminder that Night at the Museum came out this week.
